Lockdown 3.0 – Housing Market Review

With all hopes pinned on 2021 for being a better year, it hasn’t kicked off with the best of beginnings with the PM announcing on Monday 4th January that England would enter its third lockdown since the COVID-19 pandemic began. Yet, while the restrictions are similar to the first lockdown imposed in March 2020 the housing market remains open.

The latest government guidance on moving home is:

  • You can still move home. People outside your household or support bubble should not help with moving house unless absolutely necessary.
  • Estate and letting agents and removals firms can continue to work. If you are looking to move, you can go to property viewings.
  • Follow the national guidance on moving home safely, which includes advice on social distancing, letting fresh air in, and wearing a face covering.

With the Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) holiday due to end on the 31st March, the pressure is on to get transactions completed in time for buyers to take advantage of the discount.

Here at Enact, we are continuing to support both existing and new customers through their transactions, for us it’s business as usual and we are looking forward to the year ahead.
